How to play Barricade B?

Game Objective:

The primary goal in Barricade B Solitaire is to move all 104 cards (two standard 52-card decks) to the eight foundation piles by building each foundation up in suit from Ace to King.

Setup & Layout:

  • Deck: Two standard 52-card decks (total 104 cards).
  • Tableau: Fourteen tableau piles are created. Each tableau pile is dealt two cards, both face-up.
  • Foundations: Eight foundation piles are reserved, initially empty.
  • Stock: The remaining cards form the stock pile, which is used to fill tableau spaces as play progresses.
  • Key Play Areas:
  • Tableau: The main area where cards are manipulated; 14 piles, each starts with 2 face-up cards.
  • Foundations: The destination piles for building up each suit from Ace to King.
  • Stock: The draw pile used to replenish empty tableau spaces.

Barricade B Solitaire Rules:

  • Foundations:
  • Only Aces may be moved to empty foundation piles.
  • Foundations are built up by suit (e.g., 2♠ on Ace♠, 3♠ on 2♠, etc.), continuing to King.
  • Tableau:
  • Cards are built down by alternating color (e.g., red on black or black on red).
  • Only the top card of each tableau pile is available for play.
  • Any card may be moved to an empty tableau pile.
  • Movement:
  • Only single cards may be moved at a time (no sequences).
  • Empty tableau spaces are immediately filled with a card from the stock, if available.
  • If the stock is exhausted, empty tableau spaces may be filled with any available card in play.

Gameplay:

  • Turn Sequence:
  • Move available cards to the foundations if possible (Aces first, then build up by suit).
  • Build cards down by alternating color on the tableau, moving only one card at a time.
  • When a tableau pile becomes empty, immediately fill it with a card from the stock. If the stock is empty, fill it with any available card.
  • Introducing New Cards:
  • Whenever a tableau pile is emptied, draw the top card from the stock to fill it automatically.
  • If the stock is depleted, players may fill empty tableau spaces with any card from the tableau or foundations, as allowed.
  • No More Moves:
  • If no legal moves remain and the stock is empty, the game ends.

Winning & Losing Conditions:

  • Winning: The game is won when all 104 cards are moved to the eight foundation piles, with each foundation built up in suit from Ace to King.
  • Losing: The game is lost or becomes unwinnable if no legal moves remain and not all cards have been moved to the foundations.

Special Rules & Edge Cases:

  • Filling Empty Tableau Spaces:
  • While stock remains: Empty tableau spaces must be filled immediately with the top card from the stock.
  • After stock is empty: Any card may be moved into an empty tableau space.
  • Movement Restrictions:
  • Only the top card of each tableau pile is available for play; sequences cannot be moved as a group.
  • No Redeal: There is no redeal; once the stock is exhausted, play continues only with available cards on the tableau and foundations.
  • Foundation Start: Only Aces may be placed on empty foundations; no other card can start a foundation pile.

Note: All cards in the tableau are always face-up, ensuring full visibility of available moves at all times.
