The primary goal in Big Bertha Solitaire is to move all cards from two standard 52-card decks (104 cards total) into designated foundation piles. Specifically, you must:
Build eight foundation piles by suit from Ace up to Queen.
Build a separate King foundation pile by placing all eight Kings onto it as they become available.
Setup & Layout:
Deck: Two standard 52-card decks (104 cards total).
Tableau: 15 tableau piles, each dealt 6 cards face-up (90 cards in total).
Reserve: 14 reserve cards, each dealt face-up in a grid or row.
Foundations:
Main Foundations: 8 piles, to be built up in suit from Ace to Queen.
King Foundation: 1 pile, where all Kings (regardless of suit) are placed as soon as they are available.
All cards are dealt face-up in both the tableau and reserve; there are no face-down cards in this variant.
No Stock or Waste Pile is used in this game.
Big Bertha Solitaire Rules:
Available Cards: The top card of each tableau pile and every reserve card are always available for play.
Foundations:
Ace Foundations: Start with an Ace, build up by suit to Queen (e.g., Ace, 2, 3, …, Queen).
King Foundation: Place any King onto the King foundation pile as soon as it is available. Kings cannot be played to other foundations or tableau piles.
Tableau Building:
Build down in descending rank and by alternating colors (red on black, black on red).
Groups of cards in correct descending, alternating-color sequence can be moved together between tableau piles.
Moving Cards:
You may move any single available card or a valid group of cards from one tableau pile to another, or from the reserve to the tableau, provided the sequence follows the descending, alternating-color rule.
Cards can be moved from the tableau or reserve to the appropriate foundation pile if they fit the build sequence.
Empty Tableau Spaces: May be filled with any single card or a valid group of cards in descending, alternating-color sequence from the tableau or reserve.
Gameplay:
On each turn, you may:
Move any available card or valid group from the tableau or reserve to another tableau pile, following the descending, alternating-color rule.
Move available cards from the tableau or reserve to the appropriate foundation pile (Ace or King foundations).
Fill empty tableau spaces with any available card or valid group from the tableau or reserve.
No redeal: There is no stock or waste pile, and no redeal is possible.
Play continues until all cards are moved to the foundations or no further legal moves are possible.
Winning & Losing Conditions:
Win: You win by successfully building all eight Ace foundations up to Queen (by suit) and placing all eight Kings onto the King foundation pile.
Lose: The game is lost or unwinnable if no more legal moves can be made and not all cards have been placed in the foundations.
Special Rules & Edge Cases:
Filling Empty Tableau Spaces: Any single card or valid group of cards in descending, alternating-color sequence from the tableau or reserve may be used to fill an empty tableau pile.
Kings: Kings cannot be played to the tableau or Ace foundations; they must be moved to the King foundation pile as soon as they are available.
Reserve Cards: All reserve cards are always available for play to either the tableau or the appropriate foundation.
No Card Removal from Foundations: Once a card is placed on any foundation (Ace or King), it cannot be removed.
No Redeal: There is no stock or waste pile; once all moves are exhausted, the game ends.
Definitions:
Tableau: The main play area with 15 columns of 6 face-up cards.
Reserve: 14 face-up cards available for play at any time.
Foundations: Separate piles for building up by suit from Ace to Queen, plus a single pile for all Kings.
This ruleset distinguishes Big Bertha Solitaire from other solitaire variants by its unique multi-foundation structure and the requirement to separately collect all Kings.
