The primary goal in Cell Eleven Solitaire is to move all cards from the tableau and cells to the foundation piles, building each foundation up in suit from Ace to King.
Setup & Layout:
Deck: Use a standard 52-card deck.
Tableau: Deal 7 tableau piles. The first tableau pile receives 1 card, the second receives 2 cards, and so on up to the seventh pile, which receives 7 cards. Only the top card of each tableau pile is face up; all others are face down.
Cells: There are eleven cells (sometimes called "free cells"), each of which can hold only one card at a time. All cells start empty.
Foundations: Four foundation piles, one for each suit, begin empty and are built up from Ace to King.
Stock: No stock or reserve pile is used in this variant.
Key Play Areas:
Tableau: The main area where cards are initially dealt and manipulated.
Cells: Auxiliary spaces for temporarily storing individual cards.
Foundations: The destination for all cards, built up in suit.
No Stock: All cards are in play from the beginning; there is no draw pile.
Cell Eleven Solitaire Rules:
Card Movement:
Only one card may be moved at a time, either from the tableau or from a cell.
Any single card from the tableau or a cell may be moved to an empty cell, to the foundation (if legal), or onto another tableau pile (if legal).
Building on Tableau:
Build tableau piles in descending order and by alternating colors (e.g., red on black, black on red).
Only the top card of each tableau pile is available for play.
Cells:
Each cell can hold only one card.
Cards in cells are always available for play to the tableau or to the foundations.
Foundations:
Foundations are built up by suit from Ace to King (A, 2, 3, …, K).
Only cards of the same suit and in ascending order may be placed on a foundation.
Gameplay:
Sequence of Actions:
Move cards from the tableau to the foundations whenever possible.
Move cards between tableau piles, following the rules of descending order and alternating color.
Use cells to temporarily hold cards to facilitate movement and uncover face-down cards in the tableau.
Only one card may occupy a cell at a time.
Introducing New Cards:
No new cards are introduced during play; all cards are dealt at the beginning.
No More Legal Moves:
If no further moves are possible (no cards can be moved to the foundations, tableau, or cells), the game ends in a loss.
Winning & Losing Conditions:
Winning:
The game is won when all 52 cards have been moved to the foundations, with each foundation built up from Ace to King in suit.
Losing:
The game is lost (unwinnable) if no legal moves remain and not all cards have been transferred to the foundations.
Special Rules & Edge Cases:
Filling Empty Tableau Piles:
Any card (from the tableau or a cell) may be moved to an empty tableau pile.
Filling Empty Cells:
Any available card may be moved into an empty cell, but only one card per cell is allowed at any time.
Multiple Moves:
Sequences of cards cannot be moved together; only one card at a time may be moved, unless empty cells and/or empty tableau piles are used to temporarily hold cards and facilitate a series of single-card moves.
No Stock/Reserve:
There is no stock or reserve; all cards are in play from the start.
No Redeals:
Once the initial deal is complete, no redeals are permitted.
Note: The eleven cells provide more flexibility than in standard FreeCell, but the restriction of moving only one card at a time remains critical for strategic planning.
