The primary goal in Doublet Cell Solitaire is to move all cards from the tableau and cells to the foundation piles, building each foundation by suit in ascending order from Ace to King. The game is won when all cards have been successfully transferred to the foundations according to these rules.
Setup & Layout:
Deck: A standard 52-card deck is used.
Tableau: Eight tableau piles are created. The leftmost four piles each receive seven cards face-up. The remaining four piles each receive six cards face-up.
Cells: There are multiple "cells" (typically four), each of which can hold one card. All cells are empty at the start.
Foundations: Four foundation piles are designated, initially empty, to be built up by suit from Ace to King.
Card Orientation: All cards in the tableau are dealt face-up. There are no face-down cards in this variant.
Key Play Areas:
Tableau: The main play area with eight piles of face-up cards.
Cells: Temporary holding spaces for single cards.
Foundations: Target piles for building sequences by suit.
Doublet Cell Solitaire Rules:
Card Movement Principles:
Only the top card of each tableau pile or any card in a cell may be moved.
Cards can be moved from the tableau or cells to the foundations if they follow the ascending sequence by suit (Ace to King).
Cards can be moved from the tableau to any empty cell, provided the cell is not already occupied.
Cards from cells can be played back to the tableau or directly to the foundations.
Building Sequences:
No building is permitted within the tableau piles; you cannot stack cards within tableau columns.
The only permitted moves in the tableau are transferring the top card to a cell or to a foundation pile.
Moving Cards:
A card may be moved to a cell if the cell is empty.
A card may be moved from a cell to a foundation or back to the tableau (if the tableau pile is empty).
Cards can only be moved to the foundation if they continue the suit sequence (e.g., a 2 of Hearts on an Ace of Hearts).
Gameplay:
On each turn, the player may:
Move the top card of any tableau pile to a cell (if an empty cell is available).
Move a card from a cell to a foundation or to an empty tableau pile.
Move the top card of any tableau pile or any card from a cell to a foundation, following suit and ascending order.
No new cards are introduced during play; all cards are dealt at the start.
If no legal moves remain (no cards can be moved to cells or foundations), the game is blocked.
Winning & Losing Conditions:
Win Condition: The game is won when all cards have been moved to the foundation piles, completing each suit from Ace to King.
Loss/Unwinnable State: The game is lost or unwinnable if no further legal moves are possible and cards remain in the tableau or cells.
Special Rules & Edge Cases:
Filling Empty Spaces:
An empty tableau pile may be filled with any card from a cell.
Cells Restrictions:
Each cell may hold only one card at a time.
No Tableau Building:
Unlike other solitaire variants, cards cannot be stacked or built upon within tableau piles.
Exceptions:
Only the top card of each tableau pile is accessible for movement.
Cards in cells may be moved to foundations or to empty tableau piles, but not stacked within tableau piles.
Summary of Unique Features:
All tableau cards are dealt face-up.
No in-tableau building; only movement to cells and foundations is permitted.
Cells serve as temporary storage and strategic maneuvering points.
The game focuses on efficiently managing available moves to clear the tableau and cells.
