The primary goal in Suit Elevens Solitaire is to remove all cards from the tableau by forming and discarding sets of cards from the same suit that total exactly eleven, or by removing a set consisting of a Jack, Queen, and King of the same suit.
Setup & Layout:
Deck: Use one standard 52-card deck.
Tableau: Deal 15 cards face-up in a single row or grid; these form the tableau and are available for play.
Stock: Place the remaining 37 cards face-down as the stock pile.
Foundation: Create a foundation area to collect discarded sets (removed cards).
All tableau cards are dealt face-up. The stock pile remains face-down until cards are drawn to refill tableau spaces.
Suit Elevens Solitaire Rules:
Card Values:
Ace = 1, 2–10 = face value, Jack, Queen, King = only used as a set (see below).
Removing Cards:
Remove any set of two or more cards of the same suit whose total value equals eleven.
Alternatively, remove a set consisting of a Jack, Queen, and King of the same suit as a single group.
Building: There is no building of sequences or stacks; cards are only removed in valid sets.
Movement: Only cards in the tableau can be used to form sets; cards cannot be moved between tableau piles.
Gameplay:
Action Sequence:
Examine the tableau for any valid sets (same suit, totaling eleven, or J/Q/K trio).
Remove valid sets from the tableau and place them in the foundation area.
For each removed card, immediately refill the empty space with the top card from the stock pile, dealt face-up.
Repeat this process as long as valid sets can be formed.
Stock Depletion: When the stock pile is exhausted, empty tableau spaces are not refilled.
No Moves Available: If no valid sets remain and the stock is empty, the game ends.
Winning & Losing Conditions:
Win: The game is won if all cards are removed from the tableau and placed in the foundation.
Loss: The game is lost if no valid sets remain and there are cards left on the tableau (with the stock depleted), making further moves impossible.
Special Rules & Edge Cases:
Filling Empty Spaces: Only refill empty tableau spaces with cards from the stock pile; once the stock is empty, spaces remain vacant.
Face Cards Exception: Jack, Queen, and King can only be removed together as a set of the same suit; they cannot be removed individually or in pairs.
No Rearrangement: Cards cannot be moved between tableau positions or rearranged; only removal in valid sets is allowed.
Unplayable Deals: Some initial deals may be unwinnable from the outset due to the strict suit and value requirements; this is an accepted aspect of the game.
Key Terms Defined:
Tableau: The main play area of 15 face-up cards from which sets are formed and removed.
Stock: The face-down pile used to refill tableau spaces as cards are removed.
Foundation: The area where removed sets are collected; not built upon, only used for discards.
This ruleset reflects the unique mechanics and higher difficulty of Suit Elevens Solitaire, emphasizing strict suit-matching and the removal of specific value combinations.
