How to play Super Challenge FreeCell?

Game Objective:

The primary goal in Super Challenge FreeCell Solitaire is to move all 52 cards from the tableau and cells to the four foundation piles, building each foundation up by suit in ascending order from Ace to King.

Setup & Layout:

  • Deck: Uses a standard 52-card deck (no jokers).
  • Dealing: All 52 cards are dealt face-up into eight tableau piles:
    • The first four tableau piles each receive seven cards.
    • The remaining four tableau piles each receive six cards.
  • Play Areas:
    • Tableau: The main play area, consisting of eight columns (piles) where all cards are initially dealt face-up.
    • Foundations: Four empty spaces, one for each suit, where cards are built up from Ace to King.
    • Cells (Free Cells): Four empty spaces used as temporary storage for single cards.
  • Card Orientation: All cards are dealt face-up, meaning every card is visible and accessible from the start of the game.

Super Challenge FreeCell Solitaire Rules:

  • Card Movement Principles:
    • Only the top card of each tableau pile or any card in a free cell may be moved at any time.
    • Cards can be moved:
      • From tableau to another tableau pile (if legal).
      • From tableau or cell to a foundation pile (if legal).
      • From tableau to a free cell (if available).
      • From a free cell back to tableau or to a foundation.
  • Building Sequences:
    • Tableau: Build down in rank (King to Ace) by alternating colors (red on black or black on red).
    • Foundations: Build up by suit from Ace to King (A♠, 2♠, 3♠, …, K♠).
  • Moving Cards and Sequences:
    • Only one card may be moved at a time, unless using "supermoves" (see Special Rules).
    • Sequences can be moved if there are enough empty cells and/or empty tableau piles to accommodate the move (see Special Rules for calculation).

Gameplay:

  • Player Actions:
    • Move the top card of any tableau pile to another tableau pile, to a free cell, or to a foundation pile (if legal).
    • Move a card from a free cell back to the tableau or to a foundation pile.
    • Build tableau piles down by alternating color and descending rank.
    • Build foundation piles up by suit and ascending rank.
  • Introducing New Cards:
    • There is no stock or reserve; all cards are in play from the start.
  • No More Legal Moves:
    • If no legal moves remain (no cards can be moved to tableau, cells, or foundations), the game is lost or unwinnable.

Winning & Losing Conditions:

  • Winning Condition:
    • The game is won when all 52 cards are successfully moved to the four foundation piles, each built up by suit from Ace to King.
  • Losing/Unwinnable Condition:
    • The game is lost (or considered unwinnable) if there are no legal moves left and not all cards have been moved to the foundations.

Special Rules & Edge Cases:

  • Empty Spaces:
    • Empty Tableau Piles: Any single card (not a sequence) can be moved into an empty tableau pile.
    • Empty Cells: Any single card can be moved to an empty cell, provided there is space.
  • Supermoves (Moving Sequences):
    • While only one card may be moved at a time, you can move a sequence of cards in one action if there are enough empty cells and/or empty tableau piles to facilitate the move.
    • The maximum number of cards that can be moved together as a sequence is calculated as: [ \text{Maximum cards movable} = (N + 1) \times 2^M ] where (N) is the number of empty cells and (M) is the number of empty tableau piles.
  • Restrictions:
    • Only one card may occupy each cell at a time.
    • Cards in the foundations cannot be moved back to the tableau or cells.
    • Only the top card of each tableau pile or a card in a cell may be moved at any time.
  • Unique to Super Challenge FreeCell:
    • The "Super Challenge" designation typically refers to particularly difficult or pre-selected deals that require advanced strategy, but the core rules remain identical to standard FreeCell. Always verify if the platform introduces any additional constraints, but most sources indicate the rules are as above.

Note: All rules above are derived from official FreeCell rulesets and the specific Super Challenge FreeCell documentation provided by Politaire. If your platform or version introduces any additional mechanics, consult its official documentation for variant-specific rules.
