How to play Titan?

Game Objective:

The primary goal in Titan Solitaire is to move all 104 cards (using two standard 52-card decks) to the eight foundation piles by building each foundation up in suit from Ace through King.

Setup & Layout:

  • Deck Used: Two standard 52-card decks (total 104 cards).
  • Foundation Piles: Eight foundations, all initially empty.
  • Tableau: Eight tableau columns. Each tableau column is dealt three cards, all face up at the start of the game.
  • Stock: The remaining cards after the tableau setup form the stock pile, face down. The stock is used to deal additional cards to the tableau during play.
  • Key Play Areas:
  • Foundations: Eight piles where cards are built up by suit from Ace to King.
  • Tableau: Eight columns where cards are built down by alternating color.
  • Stock: Supplies new cards to the tableau; there is no redeal.

Titan Solitaire Rules:

  • Foundations:

  • Build up by suit, starting with Ace and ending with King (e.g., Ace♠, 2♠, 3♠, …, King♠).

  • Only Aces can be moved to empty foundation piles.

  • Only the top card of each foundation pile is available for play.

  • Tableau:

  • Build down by alternating color (e.g., a red 7 can be placed on a black 8).

  • Sequences built down by alternating color may be moved together as a group.

  • Any card or valid sequence may be moved to fill an empty tableau column.

  • Only the top card or a valid sequence from a tableau column may be moved.

  • Stock:

  • When activated, deals one card face up to each tableau column.

  • Only a single pass through the stock is allowed; there are no redeals.

Gameplay:

  • On each turn, you may:

  • Move the top card of a tableau column (or a valid sequence) onto another tableau column, following the rule of building down by alternating color.

  • Move the top card of a tableau column to a foundation pile if it continues the foundation sequence by suit.

  • Move the top card from a foundation back to the tableau if a valid move exists.

  • Fill empty tableau columns with any available card or valid sequence.

  • When no more moves are possible, deal one card from the stock to the top of each tableau column (if stock remains).

  • Dealing from Stock:

  • Activate the stock to deal one card face up onto each tableau column.

  • This can only be done once per game; after the stock is exhausted, no redeals are permitted.

  • No More Moves:

  • If there are no legal moves and the stock is depleted, gameplay ends.

Winning & Losing Conditions:

  • Win: All 104 cards are successfully moved to the eight foundation piles, each built up in suit from Ace to King.
  • Lose/Unwinnable: The game is lost if no more legal moves are possible and the stock is empty, with cards remaining in the tableau or stock.

Special Rules & Edge Cases:

  • Filling Empty Tableau Columns:
  • Any card or valid sequence of cards may be moved into an empty tableau column.
  • Moving Sequences:
  • Only sequences built down by alternating color may be moved together as a group.
  • Stock Restrictions:
  • Only one pass through the stock is allowed; once the stock is depleted, no further cards can be dealt.
  • Foundation Flexibility:
  • The top card of any foundation pile may be moved back to the tableau if it creates a valid build.
  • No Redeals:
  • There are no redeals; once the stock is used up, it cannot be replenished.

Note: Titan Solitaire is considered a challenging variant, with a low win rate and a high requirement for skillful play.
