The primary goal of Two Cell Solitaire is to build up all cards onto the foundation piles, sorting each suit in ascending order from Ace through King.
Setup & Layout:
Deck: Use a standard 52-card deck.
Initial Arrangement: Deal all cards face-up into tableau columns. The precise number of tableau columns may vary, but each column should allow for easy access to the top card of each pile.
Key Play Areas:
Tableau: The main area where cards are dealt and manipulated. All cards in the tableau are dealt face-up.
Foundations: Four piles, one for each suit, where cards are built up from Ace to King.
Cells: Two separate spaces (the "cells") where a single card can be temporarily stored. Each cell can hold only one card at a time.
Face-Up/Face-Down: All cards are dealt face-up. There are no face-down cards in the tableau or cells.
Two Cell Solitaire Rules:
Card Movement:
Only the top card of each tableau column may be moved.
Any single card may be moved to an empty cell, provided the cell is not already occupied.
Cards stored in cells can be played back to the tableau or directly to the foundations, following standard movement rules.
Building Sequences:
Cards in the tableau are built in descending order and must alternate colors (for example, a red 7 may be placed on a black 8).
Foundations are built up by suit, starting with Ace and ending with King.
Moving Cards Between Areas:
Cards can be moved from tableau to tableau, from tableau to a cell, from cell to tableau, and from tableau or cell to foundations, provided all movement rules are followed.
Gameplay:
Player Actions:
Move cards between tableau columns, to and from cells, and onto foundations as permitted by the rules.
Use the two cells strategically to temporarily hold cards and free up movement options within the tableau.
Introducing New Cards:
All cards are dealt at the start; there is no stock or reserve pile in Two Cell Solitaire.
No More Legal Moves:
If no legal moves are available and the player cannot continue building on the foundations, the game ends in a loss.
Winning & Losing Conditions:
Winning Condition: The game is won when all cards have been successfully moved to the foundation piles, sorted by suit from Ace to King.
Losing Condition: The game is lost or unwinnable if no further legal moves are possible and not all cards have been placed onto the foundations.
Special Rules & Edge Cases:
Filling Empty Spaces:
Any available card may be played into any available cell, but only one card per cell is allowed at any time.
Empty tableau columns may be filled by any card, following standard tableau building rules (descending order, alternating colors).
Unique Restrictions:
Only the top card of each tableau column or any card in a cell is available for movement.
Sequences of cards cannot be moved as a group; only single cards may be moved at a time unless sufficient empty cells and tableau columns allow for multi-card moves according to FreeCell movement logic.
Exceptions:
There are no redeals, stock piles, or waste piles in Two Cell Solitaire.
Cards placed in the foundation cannot be moved back to the tableau or cells.
Key Definitions:
Tableau: The main play area where cards are arranged in columns and manipulated during play.
Foundation: The target piles where cards are built up by suit from Ace to King.
Cell: A temporary storage space for a single card, used to facilitate movement and strategy.
